Bantwal, Apr 20: Three cases of attempted fake voting in different polling booths have been registered at Bantwal town police station and three people are arrested in this connection.

The arrested are Kalladka resident Mohammed Shafi, Kodange resident Anwar and Mohammed Shafik. A complaint of election officer’s failure to take action against a fake voting is also registered in the police station.

Details of the incident

A voter produced Aadhaar card in the name of Majeed Rehman in 177th polling booth, Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat higher primary school, Kalladka. But the agent there said that he is Mohammed Shafi. As coming to vote in the name of another person was found, Bantwal town police registered a case and took the suspect in custody.

Anwar (30), who came to vote for the second time in 122nd polling booth in Kodange is taken into custody. The action is taken on the basis of complaint by police on duty. A complaint over non action by the election officer is also registered in this case.

In another case, Mohammed Shafik (19) who was not in the electoral rolls in 123rd polling booth in Kodange is also arrested, said the police.
