Bengaluru, Apr 20: A person has filed a complaint with the Election Commission on the quality of the indelible ink used during the voting on April 18 in city.

Complainant Parikshit Dalal (43), a resident of Frazer Town is the complainant.

Parikshit says he could wash off the ink on his index finger immediately after he cast his vote on Thursday.

Parikshit cast his vote at the BBMP Corporation Girls High School on Robertson Road around 10 am. After reaching home at 10.30 am, he wanted to see if the ink stayed if he washed his hand. He had read recently about an incident of the ink disappearing when washed in Noida in Uttar Pradesh. The indelible ink on the finger should remain for more than two weeks.

Parikshit washed his hand with soap and applied nail polish remover. The ink disappeared, to his surprise.

He went to the polling station in the afternoon and reported the matter to the presiding officer, who alerted the Assistant Returning Officer (ARO).

The ARO took a formal complaint from Parikshit Dalal, but told him that they could not do anything about it. ARO offered to escalate the matter to the superiors as the ink was supplied by the EC.

"I urge the officials to look into my complaint and ensure proper ink is used in the election," the complaint by Parikshit states.
