Mangaluru, Apr 19: A youth cycled all his way from Bengaluru to be able to cast his vote on the polling day, Thursday April 18, in a polling booth located in the city. The youngster who successfully took up this feat happens to be Aniket J from Vamanjoor.

Aniket (29) exercised his franchise at St Joseph School, Vamanjoor. He came to the booth in his bicycle. Aniket, son of Shekhar and Neela couple from Vamanjoor, undertook his bicycle ride from Bengaluru to the city for creating awareness among the people about the need to exercise the right to vote in the election.

He began his journey at Bengaluru at 4.45 am on April 17 and stayed overnight at Sakleshpur. He began his onward journey from there at 3.30 am on April 18 and reached the city at 1.45 pm. He visited the booth and voted for the candidate of his choice at 2.30 pm.

Because of a string holidays this time around, many people have undertaken visit to native place or relatives, picnic, trekking etc to make the best use of the opportunity, as this also coincides with school holidays, duly overlooking their duty to exercise their voting right. Voter turnout at Bengaluru had been very low last time just like this year. Aniket undertook his journey with the aim of spreading awareness about the need to vote in his bicycle, backed by the slogan, 'Your Vote Your Voice'.

This is all for show off. If he want to spread the awareness it should be least one day earlier. What is the use of spreading message today?
Anyway a big salute to his courage for cycling all the way from Bangalore.

Its better than going on holiday. Cycling from Bangalore to Mangalore is not an easy task. Its not just Hard work and dedication, he needs a lot of courage.

I beg to differ with you on this. Its not a show off. I know many who stayed back in bangalore citing high ticket fare to mangalore. But this lad made sure he came and reached. Also, to let you know, half of karnataka including kundapur is voting on 23rd along with many other states in India. So he will inspire many like him in Bangalore.

I feel Hubli and Mangalore Bicycle club shd post his story and inspire others.

This election has become a big gimmick and show game rather than a serious exercise like in some western countries.

Indians are still seeing this as a time to enjoy. only God can save this sanathana country.

Winston Churchill's saying during handing over the country back to Indians has become true. We are good to be administered by others than ourselves.

What Winston Churchill had said turned to be true in case of Pakistan and Bangladesh, which saw more years under military rule than civilian elected governments.
