Mangaluru: Thousands of faithful observe Maundy Thursday in coast

Mangaluru, Apr 18: Christians across Mangaluru and Udupi diocese observed Maundy Thursday to commemorate the institution of the Holy Eucharist by Jesus Christ with church services on the evening of April 18.

The Eucharistic Mass was offered by Bishop Dr Peter Paul D'Souza at Rosario Cathedral in city.

Fr J B Crasta, Fr Flavian Lobo, Fr Victor D’Souza and Fr Anil Fernandes were concelebrants.

As per the ritual, the bishop washed the feet of twelve people who represented the disciples of Jesus Christ.

The ritual was observed in all churches in the coast. Churches like Jeppu and Milagres had put up special stages to accommodate thousands of devotees.
