Winds of change? Mukesh Ambani backs Congress candidate Milind Deora

Daijiworld Media Network

Mumbai, Apr 18: In a major development, Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani backing Milind Deora the Congress candidate from South Mumbai, has left political analysts wondering if India’s major business tycoon is trying to appease the grand old party.

In a 2.17 minute long video tweeted by Deora from his Twitter handle, Ambani can be heard saying, "Milind is the man for South Bombay. Having represented South Bombay for 10 years, I believe Milind has in-depth knowledge of the social, economic and cultural ecosystem of the South Bombay constituency."

Mukesh, who is not known to endorse a political candidate publicly, now seems to be favouring Deora. The unexpected support, especially at a time when AICC president Rahul Gandhi has launched an attack on Mukesh’s younger brother Anil Ambani over the Rafale deal, has raised eyebrows.

Mukesh’s endorsement has seemingly pinched the BJP and is evident in reactions on Twitter. BlueKraft founder Akhilesh Mishra who is a BJP proponent lashed out at Ambani. "Is this first instance of an industrialist of scale of Mukesh Ambani openly seeking votes for a political party, in this case Rahul Gandhi's Congress? Also, if Mr. Ambani, after weighing the optics, has still chosen to come out in open for Congress, what has been doing from behind? (sic)" Mishra tweeted.

Meanwhile, others have taken Ambani’s support to Congress as a hint indicating the direction the political wind is blowing.

Some analysts have reasoned an alternate explanation for Ambani’s support. The late Dhirubhai Ambani was close to Milind's late father Murli Deora who headed the city Congress unit for decades. They zero-down that the close family ties could be a reason Ambani is being vocal about his support.

The video also features Uday Kotak, managing director of Kotak Mahindra Bank. "Milind truly represents 'Mumbai ka connection'. I genuinely believe Milind understands and relates to Mumbai for a long time," Kotak is heard saying.

Is it the rat or rather the bandicoot deserting a sinking ship? Any way it had grown up during Congress rule taking advantage of the permit license Raj! One cannot read much into such antics. But one thing for sure this time is that the Feku wave is over.

Industrialists who were very supportive of Modi in 2014 have started to realise that polarisation in India will be detrimental to India.
I could sense this attitude change with Mukesh, Uday Kotak, Anand Mahindra ..

Actually it is hilarious to see the outrage & gushing of comments here. Friends Log, Milind is a Mitr of Ambani, that is all. Mukesbhai may have made some monies through his father & he is repaying it back. That's it. Don't read too much into it.

The writing is on the wall. I am sure the Big Business men would have realised the winds of change sweeping across the nation and the growing anger of the common man against the Modi Sarkar. Coming as such from Mukesh Ambani whose brother has been at the receiving end of Rahul gandhi's attack on Modi La Rafale Scam speaks volumes of the impending Doom of the Modi Sarkar.

The Bells have started tolling fo the Modi Sarkar.

History repeats!!!!!!!!!!. If anyone remember 2004 incident, most of thought that NDA will come back to power because of "India Shining" slogan!!!!. In a rare incident that time Andhra assembly election counting was held before 2 days of Loksabha election counting because of technical reason & Congress got absolute majority in Andhra assembly. Same evening Anil Ambani met Sonia Gandhi!!!!!!!!. (that time both brothers are together in business).

    Rest is history!!!!!!.

Ambanis or other businessmen most of the time fund both parties to do business related clearances and or favours to run the business smoothly. Ofcourse Deora family is close to Ambanis for the same reason to get favours.

    People,

There is a saying in politics...don't keep all eggs in one basket...this is called political hedging in English...

If either BJPee or CONgress wins...both are Ambani supporters...

Mukesh said his famous words when CONgress was ruling India..." CONgress hari Dukaan hai...Moily hamara Salesman hai...uska beta hamare liye kaam karta hai...usiliye Moily ko maine Corporate Minister banaya hai".....

To be honest for all Chor Industrialist CONgress is better option than BJPeee...this is my personal opinion...

    ...Tak...Takk...

Businessman always are with all political parties. Ambani group made wealthier none other than congress. As a family friend wants to support Deora family. Secondly milind married to Adlabs Manmohan Shetty's daughter. It's none other than reliance which purchased Adlabs. It's normal..nothing new...just a balancing act.
