'Operation Lotus' if revived will see only failure: Siddaramaiah

Daijiworld Media Network

Mysuru, Apr 16: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah spoke on possibilities of BJP going back to its ‘Operation Kamala’ tactics to topple the Karnataka government, soon after the general election.

Expressing confidence that BJP won’t return to power at the centre, Siddaramaiah who is also the Coalition Coordination Committee chairman asserted the coalition is “very much stable.” He also said that if Operation Kamala 2.0 is attempted by the BJP, then it will witness only failure.

Siddaramaiah dismissed threats to the coalition and told media on Monday that the government in the state is functioning smoothly without any hiccups.

BJP has only 104 MLAs and need 13 legislators to form the government in Karnataka. Meanwhile, it is important to note that defecting MLAs will attract disqualification under the anti-defection law and cannot join BJP straightaway, he said.

The Congress leader questioned if there is a Modi wave and said he wants to know the factors that are contributing to the Modi wave. How can you say BJP will come to power? he questioned media.

As BJP won 102 of the 120 seats in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in 2014, is it possible to win the same? BJP won’t secure 50 percent of the seats it bagged in Bihar and UP five years ago, he said.
