Mangaluru, Apr 16: Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said that prohibitory orders under section 144 will be imposed from April 16 at 6 pm to April 19 at 6 pm ahead of Lok Sabha elections 2019.

Addressing media here on Tuesday April 16, Sasikanth Senthil said, "Dry day has been declared from April 16 to the midnight of April 18. We have made special arrangement for the mustering day. We will provide basic medical kit to polling personnel. There are 641 sensitive booths. Live streaming will be done to keep an eye on the process of election. There will 95 hand held cameras, 300 micro observers and six central paramilitary forces will be deployed at sensitive booths,”

“Today 6 pm will be the deadline for open campaign. There is provision for door-to-door campaign in a small group. Outsiders who are not residents of this constituency and who came for the sake of campaigning should leave the constituency by 6 pm.

"There are 8,45,308 male, 8,79,050 female and 102 other voters in the district with 1,861 polling stations. Under violation of model code of conduct, 15 vehicles, Rs 31,00,495 cash, and 84,285.10 liters of alcohol worth Rs 94,55,496 have been seized. As many as 587 FIRs have been filed for excise law violation.

"The candidates can arrange one table and two chairs for the use of their agents and workers for the distribution of unofficial identity slips to voters beyond the distance of 200 meters from the polling stations. There will be no scope for transportation of voters which will be an offence. Only Election Commission transportation vehicle will be permitted,” he said.

The DC also informed that voters are not allowed to carry mobile phones inside polling stations.
