Bantwal, April 15: Bantwal town police raided two recreation centers operating in the heart of the town here and took into custody more than 130 persons on Sunday evening.

The raids were conducted on suspicions of gambling and other video games in progress without license.

Town police sub-inspector Chandrashekhar and team conducted two simultaneous raids in the leadership of Bantwal ASP Saidul Adavat in two commercial complexes. Cash, mobiles, gaming cards and other items were confiscated by the police. The complexes are situated close to the police station. It is said that one of the centers was unauthorized.

It is also said that some of those who were in one of these clubs threw their jewelry, cash and mobile phones down from the complex during raids. Those who were curiously looking at the raids from below reportedly picked them. A large number of people were watching the operation from outside.

The operation continued till late night. Police station sources have said that clear information can be disclosed only after investigations.

Raids of recreational clubs which are legal and licensed. You may note that in a supremecourt ruling, playing games of skill like rummy is considered a business activity So why these raids.
There are hundreds of online rummy gaming sites (most of them are rigged , when compared playing live in a club) and they are allowed , why these torture on small clubs doing business, they don't advertise nor force anyone to play , some losers after losing money go and complain and these raids, not fair boss.
