Bengaluru: Rahul Dravid is election ambassador, but ineligible to vote

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Apr 15: Rahul Dravid, who is known as a cool cricketer with impeccable manners who stood as a wall against world-renowned bowling attack, and who had captained the Indian cricket team, cannot exercise his franchise in the Lok Sabha election this time, although he was picked as the 'Election Icon' for this election. This was revealed by an official on Sunday, April 14.

Dravid was made election icon for creating awareness among the voters to cast their votes in large numbers and inspire them to participate in the election process. Regrettably, he will be deprived of his voting right this time.

Suresh, a Bruhat Bengaluru Nagarapalike official on polling duty, said that Dravid had shifted his residence from his parental home in the eastern suburbs but failed to register his name in the electoral roll till March 16, the last date for the same, in his new constituency. His name was deleted from the previous city (central) constituency after his brother informed the officials about his shifting of residence. His current residence falls within the city (north) constituency.

It is learnt that Dravid was mostly out of city and was undertaking travel and hence could not file application in time to include his name in the draft voters list. It is gathered that he is now in Spain.

    Hi Dravid Sir,

    And even to all persons who ever concerned. Please Note;

    When you go to polling booth and donot find your name in the Voter List, show your Voter ID of Aaadhar Card and ask for "Challenge Vote", and if somebody has already casted the vote in your name please ask for "tender vote".

    Please share this message as many persons are been deprived of voting just because thier names have been deleted from the Voter List.

    Mr Sampath. U r factually incorrect in the first part of your sentence. If ur name does not appear in the voters list. YOU CANNOT VOTE.

    Challenge vote is when the polling agents object to u being the person mentioned in the Electrol list.

    Tendered vote is when someone else has voted in ur name(by mistake). Instead of Nitin some other pserson by the name Nithin has voted. Here u can cast ur vote through ballot paper only.

    This is the correct info. Jai Hind
