Mangaluru, Apr 13: A man who allegedly stole mobile phones and wallets from bags belonging to swimmers was caught by alert locals here on the night of Saturday April 13.

On Saturday evening, several children along with their parents had been to Kadrikere near Kadri temple for swimming. They left their belongings in a nearby shed before getting into the water.

When they returned to the shed later, they realized that their wallets and mobile phones had gone missing.

CCTV recording obtained from the spot showed a man, said to be from north Karnataka stealing their belongings. The man is seen to be taking a plastic bag out of his pocket and filling it with towels, mobile phone and other belongings.

The swimmers then informed the locals and together they launched a search for the alleged thief.

The locals finally spotted him near KSRTC bus stand at around 10 pm. They caught hold of him and found the stolen items in his possessions.

They then handed him over to Kadri police, who registered a case.

Best is in places like swimming pool etc, they should install not only cctv, but a small locker with key for everyone who can keepinside their valueables and lock it.They can take the key with and fix it to their underwear or swimm suit pockets.numbered lockers are best.So no need of crying and searching thieves is not needed.
