Mangaluru, Mar 23: Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has come up with a decision to form a massive human chain in coastal areas of the city to create awareness on voting as part SVEEP activities.

He was speaking during the meeting with SVEEP officials pertaining to election here at zilla panchayat on Saturday, March 23.

Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said, “A massive human chain will be formed across the coastal belt of Mangaluru. Human chain resembles commitment and effort towards doing something. Our main USP is water and sea, so we have decided to form the massive human chain in coastal areas of Mangaluru on April 7 to create awareness on voting as part of SVEEP activities. This concept will gain attention from public.”

Zilla panchayat CEO Dr Selvamani said, “With regard to human chain, three divisions have been made, in Ullal, Mangaluru City Corporation limits and Mangaluru north. Nodal officers have been appointed for each division to take care of the event.

“Under Ullal division, the human chain will be formed from Thalapady to Kotepur which is a distance of 10 km. Gram panchayats and local organisations will join hands for the human chain event. Even staffs will be deployed at each kilo meter and at the same time, various activities will be conducted such as street play, and health camps.”

Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said, "The main theme for the human chain is exercising your franchise of voting and also preserving the coast line.”

The DC also urged educational institutions to conduct programmes and events on the country’s democratic process with a banner of Election Commission. “This will educate people about voting and it delivers a strong message too. Educational institutions should come up voluntarily in organising such awareness programmes.

“As Model Code of Conduct is implemented, people should avoid circulating propaganda materials. We have already seized 20 T-shirts of political parties which was a propaganda material,” he said.

MCC commissioner Mohammed Nazeer was also present.

    India struggled to win its freedom . Exercising our right to vote upholds what our freedom fighters envisioned for India.

    This appeal is for the YOUNGSTERS Students and working Class to caste their Vote in favour of the Right Candidate.

    As India is nearing Its 75th year of Independence and crosses this landmark those born in that Golden era of Independence will recollect the words of the immortal poet Rabindranath Tagore:

    “ Where the mind is without fear and the head held high ,
    Where knowledge is free ;
    Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls ;
    Where words come out from the depth of truth;
    Where tireless striving streaches in arms towards perfection;
    Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the deary desert sand of dead habitat ;
    Where the mind is lead forward by thee into ever widening thought and action
    Into that heaven of freedom , my father , let my country awake “
    Indeed we pray that this giant (INDIA) will awake !!!

    REWRITTEN NOW:
    Where the mind is without fear - of consequences
    - And the head is always thinking of the next opportunity to amass wealth through unfair means
    - Where Public Funds are freely available for misappropriation
    - Where the country is blessed with leaders who are cheats
    - Where morality has been compromised with graft and corruption extending to unimaginable levels
    - Where lies come out without any hesitation or shame
    - Where tireless striving stretches its arm towards corruption and immorality
    - Where the clear stream of reason no longer exists and the only thing which remains is suppression of the weak by the powerful
    - Where the fear of God and the spirit of goodness have been lost and thoughts are trained only towards the objective of abetting corruption
    - Where the - Where the poor and the downtrodden are ignored and the leaders feast on the taxes paid by ordinary citizens
    - From this Hell of Endemic Corruption, My Father, DELIVER MY COUNTRY !!!
