Udupi, Mar 21: Mallikarjuna Uttare, an election observer appointed by the election commission for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls arrived here on Wednesday March 20.

Convening a meeting at DC office, the officer said that immediate action must be taken against those violating Model Codes of Conduct without waiting for a complaint from the public. He also directed the staff to keep a strict vigil on social media platforms and other such activities influencing the public ensuring free and fair polls.

He also directed the election officials to check transport of money and other such illegal activities in Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency.

Udupi DC Hephsiba Rani Korlapati informed during the meeting that necessary arrangements have been made in all 1837 polling booths in the district.

After the meeting, observer inspected MCMC centre, C-Vigil complaint centre and control rooms.

Additional deputy commissioner Vidya Kumari and other officers were present.
