Mangalore has produced great engineers, doctors and scientists. Unfortunately these same great ones have given some advice or lectures and have not motivated students in making them Innovators by knowledge transfer mechanisms. Innovation has to be born as a passion that drives one with a search for newness with determination to find solutions.
Our engineering students only worry about placements, faculty is busy with their assigned curriculum. Management wants these things for recognition. Innovation is hard work . There should be a real zeal for innovation, research development all across the spectrum. India is happy with imitation, cut – copy – paste approach. We have an attitude of look down upon. For lot of Indians Made in India is something below to their standard, we all want foreign made products. Foreign MOUs, Our Engineers want to work for them. That is the sad reality.

He may be a product of that Generation that really produced geniuses. All those around him are the by-hearted products. It is funny to expect innovation from them as they don't have problems. They can't see problems around them. The Projects what they do also were out sourced. That means both solutions and problems are not theirs.
Irrespective of any particular college, every college in DK is doing business. No Innovation out of business mind. they lack the very skill of identifying the talent among their own team. Ph.D is called "Research" once upon a time. Now it is just an addition qualification to acquire the PROFESSOR-ship at the interest of University or AICTE.
