Mumbai University releases book on Mahakali caves by Ashok S Suvarna

Mumbai, Mar 19: The Kannada department of Mumbai University held a programme at J P Nayak Bhavan, Santacruz east here on the evening of Sunday March 16 to release ‘Mahakali caves’, a book written by the editor of Mogaveera community organ ‘Mukhavani’, Ashok S Suvarna. Head of the department of Kannada at the university, Dr G N Upadhya released the book.

The book consists of research on why the ancient caves in Mumbai once known as Kondivita caves became Mahakali caves.



Billavara Association Mumbai ladies wing president Jayanti V Ullal, professor and critic, veteran author Dr Vishwanath Karnad, Hubballi’s critic and author Dr Shamsunder Bidarakundi and Mogaveera Bank president Sadananda A Kotian were the guests of honour. The bank’s retired employee literature fan Krishnaraj C Karkera released the book. Udaya Shetty Panjimaru introduced the works.

Kannada department’s assistant professor Dr Poornima S Shetty compered the programme. Kannada department research assistant Dinaker Chandra proposed the vote of thanks.
