Panaji: Youth have till March 25 to register names for voting

Panaji, Mar 19 (TOI): Youth, who have attained the age of 18 on the qualifying date of January 1, including those who have never voted before, have until March 25 to register their names in the electoral rolls to be able to vote in the 2019 Lok Sabha and the state bypolls.

Those who want to confirm their names on the electoral rolls and those who want to find out their polling booth can do so by calling 1950 or logging on to the election commission’s website https://electoralsearch.in/.

Alternatively, one can also log on to the Goa chief electoral office’s website https://ceogoa.nic.in/home.aspx for electoral roll details where one can search constituency wise, too. Names recently included in the rolls may not show up in the final roll on the CEO Goa website, but may show up in the supplementary final electoral roll, election officials said, adding that applications of those registered as voters very recently are still in the pipeline and will be published in the first week of April.

Electorate can enrol their names online by filing Form 6 or by approaching their booth level officer (BLO). The electorate can log on to the CEO Goa website to find out who their BLO is and their contact number, too, by selecting their constituency.

Once the BLO physically verifies that a person is residing at the address, the mamlatdar verifies the documents submitted with details filled in in the form. The EPIC cards are printed by Goa Electronics Limited (GEL) and are expected to be delivered to the doorstep of the voter by the BLO.

Voters who have enrolled their names in the electoral rolls but have not yet received their EPIC cards need not panic as long as they have verified that their names are on the electoral rolls, election officials say. They can produce 11 photo identity cards to be able to vote in case they have not received their EPIC cards.

The final electoral rolls with all the names of registered voters eligible to vote in this election will be out in the first week of April.
