East Bengal ready to take part in Super Cup, ISL

Kolkata, Mar 19 (IANS): East Bengal's executive committee said here on Monday it will request Quess Corp chairman Ajit Issac to ensure the club's participation in the Super Cup and the Indian Super League (ISL).

The decision came a day after the All India Football Federation (AIFF) wrote to the club asking it to clear its stance on participation in the tournaments.

"We have unanimously decided to take part in the ISL and the Super Cup. We will send a letter to our chairman Ajit Isaac to convey the decision," East Bengal executive committee member Debabrata Sarkar said after the meeting.

"We have several requests from former players and fans who want the club to play in these tournaments. We will request Ajit Isaac to hold a meeting with us and discuss the issue. Hopefully, the tournament organisers too will respond within 48 hours," Sarkar said.

Quess Corp, which has been sponsoring the club since the last season, has stated that it is with the seven other agitating clubs who have refused to participate in the Super Cup until they are heard.
