Mangaluru: ACB unearths Rs 70.18 lac in cash from residence of Udupi RTO

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru/Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Mar 18: In a major haul, the sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) seized a whopping Rs 70.18 lac in cash from the residence of R M Varnekar, regional transfer officer (RTO) of Udupi who was recently caught accepting bribe.

On March 16, the ACB officials had caught Varnekar red-handed after Vignesh, whose car had caught fire during the Bengaluru air show, had complained about him. Vignesh needed documents relating to his car insurance, and when he approached the regional transport office in Udupi, Varnekar had allegedly demanded a bribe to issue the required documents. The ACB officials then nabbed Varnekar.

ACB officials thereafer also raided Varnekar's residence in Mangaluru and unearthed Rs 70.18 lac in cash.

Apart from cash, the officials also found assets like land, a house and two keys of bank lockers, ACB officials said while revealing the details in Bengaluru.

Varnekar and another Udupi RTA employee identified as Mustafa who were arrested in the case were in judicial custody. On Monday March 18, both were granted bail.

Further investigations are on.

He will be out very soon and come as Hero. This is not new in India. there is no strict rules & Punishment, and even though there is. no one to follow these. Punishment must be so serious, so others must never dream about this. End up at least 20 years in prison and pay lot penalty. Is this ever happens in India. No way. So you see these things very soon from other officer. This will get cold very soon.

If we approach directly to RTO for any work, the officers trouble us to the core! Right from entry to the exit of any work thru RTO, it is all GAME OF MONEY! This department may be very small when compared to Land / property registration. The WHALES there are huge there!!! Please have a look at that too.

If government use sincerely Corrupt money collected from this RTA Chowkidars,
We in India can have World Class Roads and Flyovers including express highways.
RTA officials earning more than Union government's total revenue in traffic -no doubt about that.
When you go for license renewal if you pay Rs.400/- extra they will print your license card same day or next otherwise they make us to wait 5 to 6 months stating no cards available to print license, always shortage in Mangalore itself.

I have a narrative on RTO Udupi :
I am holding a Gulf Driving license, when I went to convert into Indian license I went through legal channel where the officer (RTO) refused to give me the license, next year I approached through a driving school the same officer approved my license without driving test for which I had pay Rs 3000/-

This hype will last for a couple of days in the media and then everything will be forgotten. In a couple of years you will see this same person operating as usual with a promotion in some other RTO office. Mark my words. If in China this person would have got a bullet behind the ear in a couple of weeks, with the cost of the bullet being charged to his family after the government taking over all his and his family's assets.

Neither these corrupt officers nor their family members will enjoy such easy money. It will be lost in some major accidents , fire or on hospital bed. This is the rule of the nature. All such luxury is temporary.

None of the politicians or political affiliated group give any comments on a person who is caught red handed or on the dept, who take bribes on daily basis amounting in Crores in a weeks time.

All are busy to convince the culprit and police dept that make sure that our name should not be revealed in this matter.

Hopefully the house and the land were not buried. If our MLAs and MPs are crooked and criminals, what do you expect from these officers when those supposed to make our laws are themselves law breakers and are involved in day robbery. The more they rob the more we vote for them.

With majority of our population IT unsavvy, newer scams are coming up where the common man's entire saving is siphoned off by innovative means with the help of "insiders" (crooks, like the above)!

Recently a co as big as Asian Paints with multiple checks in place was defrauded of 26 crore by means of email interceptions and subsequent impersonation; also another Swiss co lost 350 cr in a similar fashion, so what you can say of a "common man"????

Out of all those demonetized notes, not even one had the chip inserted by the 'Chowkidaar's demonetization system ?

Royally fooling the people. He said that demonetization will control black money. What is this if not black ? The poor waited for their reward after standing in queues for months, surrendering the little they had for exchange. Waited for the reward after all black money is collected.

How could all be fooled at all times ?? The Gujju is not a small crook.
