Kadaba: Example of communal harmony - Muslim brothers play trumpet at Hindu Daiva Kola

Kadaba, Mar 18: In the days when religions are fighting for supremacy among themselves, this story comes as a perfect U-turn, where a Muslim family is giving service by blowing trumpet and playing band at traditional Hindu Daiva Kola.

The family of P R Mohammed Saheb of Chamettadka of Perabe village near here is doing this unique service since 45 years. Mohammed has extensive knowledge about the customs and rituals of Daivaradane. He is loved by people of all religions. His team used to play band and blow trumpet during Daiva Nartana at various places of the district. However, as his brothers have gone to different professions, P R Mohammed Saheb is continuing this work by forming a team with other people.

Mohammed used to attend the 'Dharmasthala Deepostava' with his family members, when he was four to five years old. He got attracted to the trumpet that was blown at the Deepotsava. So he started practicing the same along with three of his relatives and used to earn his livelihood through this profession. Two of his relatives live in Perabe and the other one in Kodimbala village of the district. In some functions either two or all of them participate together.

P R Mohammed Saheb says, "I take the responsibility of shouldering any deviation that occurs by others in the service of Daiva. Due to this, even today, I am called for Daiva Kolas. This profession has good demand. Earlier we used to get very little remuneration, even for a programme lasting three days. Now we are paid a satisfactory sum and in addition, we are respected also. I feel content that I have served the Daiva respectfully."

"The present generation is not interested in this profession. Earlier, all the family members used to get together and make arrangements for the Daiva Nartanotsava. However, in modern days, the complete responsibility from the jewelry of the Daiva to the selection of the Patri (person who plays the role of Daiva) and other requirements of equipment is given to one person and the members of the house attend the actual function only. It will not be surprising if digital band and trumpet is used in future for Daivaradane," says Mohammed Saheb expressing his concern for the art that is getting extinct at a fast pace.

According to reports, 71yo Daoud Nabi was the first victim of #Christchurch and the man who welcomed the terrorist at the mosque. He was a refugee from Afghanistan and wanted to live peacefully in NZ, and he died as a hero.
“Hello, brother” were the first words a Muslim worshipper said to the attacker as he entered the mosque. They were also his last words before he was shot to death. The reply was: Five bullets in the chest. Really painful!
Even at gunpoint, he showed us to be peaceful, gentle and kind.
Let’s stop the violence instead of fueling it. Let the trumpet spread love, compassion and humanity.

BJP never supported communal harmony. I think few of bjp leaders does not know about these muslims who are playing trumpet at Hindu Daiva Kola and I am sure that they will now instruct temple authorities to remove this people and do not allow them to continue it. There were many muslims doing services in Hindu festivals, but they are asked to discontinue this. This is happening mainly in coastal karnatka where sanghis are jealous of other community and against communal harmony. BJP and sanghis want to divide our country and willing to rule the country on corpose of communal harmony. They are eager to change indian constitution and wiling to run the contry as per hidden agenda of RSS
