Mangaluru: St Aloysius College students excel in football

Mangaluru, Mar 18: St Aloysius College (Autonomous) has continued its great tradition of excellence in Sports and Games during 2018-19 by emerging champions in various university, state and national level competitions. The football team of the college has performed extremely well in all the competitions during the year.

They were the champions at the Women’s Inter-Collegiate Cup Football Tournament organised by the Dakshina Kannada Football Association which was held on August 7, 2018.

In addition, they bagged the runner-up trophy in state level football tournament for women organised by Karnataka State Football Association held in Bengaluru and Akshata Doddamani was adjudged the Best Goal Keeper of the tournament.

The football team bagged the winner’s trophy at the state level ChriSpo Fest held at Christ University, Bengaluru.

Members of the college football team Amshitha N Rai and Jancila Cutinha has the honour of being selected to represent Karnataka State Senior National Football Championship 2018-19 held at Cuttack, Odisha oprganised by the All India Football Federation in September-October, 2018. Jancila Cutinha also was the recipient of the ‘Best Forward Player Award’ at the Mangalore University level football tournament held in March hosted by Alva’s College of Physical Education, Moodbidri.

The college has been identifying the sports and games talents of the college with a sports policy to support and encourage sportsmen and women through rigorous coaching and training them by providing them state-of–the-art facilities in the campus.
