Former Supreme Court Judge PC Ghose likely to be India’s first Lokpal

Daijiworld Media Network

New Delhi, Mar 17: Former Supreme Court judge Pinaki Chandra Ghose is set to be the first Lokpal of India.

One of the leading names for the post, his name was shortlisted by the Lokpal Search Committee and on Friday the Lokpal Selection Committee comprising prime minister, chief justice of India, Lok Sabha speaker and an eminent jurist finalized Justice Ghose name.

The official appointment notification is most likely expected early next week.

Ghose who is a member of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had retired as Supreme Court Judge in May 2017.

The Lokpal will have the authority under the law to investigate complaints against current and former prime ministers, Union ministers, members of Parliament, government employees and employees of public sector undertakings, and key employees of non-governmental organisations receiving more than Rs 10 lakh a year in foreign contributions, among others.

While the appointment has come through after five years after the Lokpal Act was notified, appointing Justice Ghose has triggered a controversy as the opposition did not have a say.

Congress leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, who was extended a ‘special invitee’ to the selection committee, refused to attend as he was not given the right to vote. He termed opposition as ‘voiceless’ in a very important selection.

FYI there is no oppostion leader as on today in Loka Sabha.
Only leader of the largest oppostion who declined more than 4 times to attend the meeting. You can't hold MODI for his absence

When Demonestisation introduced the opponent including a section of media deviated whole debate ...if you see 2008 world financial crisis which was triggered in US due to Banks reckless lending in real estate sector...India would have witnessed same if Demo was not introduced..its said when GDP in 10 year Congress rule was 6-7% but the real estate grown at more 300% which is very suspicious..there is no demand supply corelation..Balck money flowing, 50% cash 50% cheque rampant, Banks lend loans like anything, every Tom n Dick became builder..if real estate price sudden collapses then all Indian banks would have collpsed same like US..Congress left a financial time bomb for Modi...Demo mainly targeted real estate sector, which stabilised prices to normalcy slowly this saved economy..

whether it is lokpal or rajyapal, this country will never improve as far as corruption is not eradicated at the micro and macro level.
Corruption has become a way of life for every Indian.
I dread going to any government office right from the municipal office, tahsildar office. RTO. Everyone is corrupted. For the same reason teh government employees do not want the systems to be online as they cannot make any extra income!
computerization is vehemently opposed in offices like RTO and land registration where the income runs into lakhs of rupees per day.
God save this country. Jai Hind

To add further............The system has become online. But this still requires human entry or involvement to get into the online system. Until we pay bribe these corrupt officers who has to give their biometrics just tell us that the server is down. I am really not sure if we can ever become free from corruption
