Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi (MS)

New Delhi, Mar 17: What an exhibition of motherly love! Blessing the person with the same hands, that are receiving award from that person! In this incident there is no relation of President and citizen. There is no accusation of violating the protocol. It was just expression of innocent motherly emotion.

Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan in the city witnessed such a rare and emotional moment during the distribution of Padma awards on Saturday, March 16.

Well-known for her care of trees and an inspiration for many to plant trees, the elderly lady from Karntaka, Vruksha Mate, Saalumarada Thimmakka was the star of the whole episode. When Thimmakka went on the dais to receive her Padmashree honour from President Ramanath Kovind, she did not face the camera. At this, the president bent himself and gestured Thimmakka to turn her face towards the camera. The innocent Thimmakka, did not understand the gesture of President and mistook that he is asking for her blessings and blessed him by placing her right hand on his head. The whole auditorium
erupted in laughter and applause. The president, who is 33 years younger to Thimmakka also smilingly received her blessings.

Thimmakka’s innocent gesture was appreciated by all the guests and dignitaries in the hall including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Unlike the nation's PM. He asks people to move away from obstructing the picture even while he touches his own mother's feet/she blesses him.

great lady. God bless her with many more years of good health. She is at least trying to help this environment, though uneducated. The educated ones are trying to destroy the earth for their material gains.
Good example is Adani industry in udupi

    Congratulations Amma.

Some narrow minded person should avoid giving his personal views at this event of honouring our elders. Were you sleeping since 1947? Should have elected your so called open minded nationalist leaders, then the awards would have not gone to unwanted.

Good to see really deserving individuals getting countries highest honours from the head of the state . Earlier these awards were only reserved to one family , honoring themselves . Remaining used to go to presstitutes & award wapsee gangs who are feeling intolerant now as Thier supply chain is cut of ad thus deprived of food, liquor andlum posts .
