Mangaluru, Mar 16: Mangalore University Konkani Adyayana peeta in association with Milagres College Mangaluru organised a Konkani Cultural competition on Saturday, March 16 at Milagres College Auditorium.

The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. Fr, Michael Santhumayor, principal, Milagres College, Mangaluru invited students to promote Konkani and its culture in its various forms and spread it to the younger generation.

Ronald Castelino, the former president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, was the chief guest of the programme who applauded the efforts of Konkani Adyayana peeta for promoting and spreading Konkani language and cultural in college campuses.

Dr Jayavantha Nayak, the coordinator of Konkani adyayana peeta, welcomed the guests and audience and said Konkani is a very rich language having variety which we do not find in any other languages.

Dr Devadas Pai, coordinator of MA Konkani University Evening College, rendered the vote of thanks and invited the young Konkani students to join Konkani MA programme at the University Evening College.

Eight colleges affiliated to Mangalore University participated in the competitions. Valedictory programme was chaired by Dr Jayavantha Nayak and Prof Aruna Kamath, principal of SDM College of Business Management was the chief guest.

At the valedictory programme Padua College of Commerce and Management Nanthoor, Milagres College Mangalore and Canara College bagged first, second and third places respectively.
