Mangaluru: Masood Educational and Charitable Trust celebrates auspicious day at Town Hall

Mangaluru, Mar 9: Masood Educational and Charitable Trust (MECT) on Wednesday March 6 celebrated an auspicious day with graduation, diploma awarding, lamp lighting and Annual Day of Masood School & College of Nursing and Masood College of Physiotherapy at Town Hall, here.

The event was highlighted by the presence of U T Khader, minister for Urban Development and Housing and Nalin Kumar Kateel, member of parliament, Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, who were the chief guests of the day.

Dr A T S Giri, senate member (BOS chairman for UG studies, RGUHS) was the guest of honour. The function was presided over by Al Haj K S Mohammed Masood, former MLC, president of MECT and former chairman of Karnataka state minorities commission.

Mohammed Asif Masood (trustee, MECT) was also amongst the dignitaries present on the dais.



Dr Mohammed Arif Masood, secretary of MECT extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and the entire gathering, which included the management of MECT, staff, students and also their family. After the inaugural function, the students of MSc, BSc and PBBSc Nursing were bestowed with post-graduation and graduation degrees respectively. Along with this, the general nursing students were awarded diplomas too.

As a significance of inculcating nursing values into oneself, lamp lighting ceremony was conducted thereafter, for the freshers, who, with zeal and enthusiasm, lit their lamps and recited the oath led by Dr Veena Gretta Tauro, principal of Masood College & School of Nursing.

The annual reports of Masood College & School of Nursing and College of Physiotherapy were read out by Vijetha Kottari (vice principal of College of Nursing) and Dr Anisha (principal of College of Physiotherapy).

Both the chief guests as well as the guest of honour addressed the gathering and encouraged the students to excel in their professions as nurses and physiotherapists and gave their valuable advice on how being humane, is more vital than being human alone. They also congratulated the graduates and hailed the efforts and dedication of the management and staff of MECT.

During the function, the students who excelled in academics and other extracurricular activities were also awarded. The formal function was compered by Lavita Menezes and concluded with a vote of thanks by Gulshan Parvin (treasurer, MECT).

Finally, it was time for the students and staff of MECT to showcase their hidden talents with a colorful and fun-filled cultural programme, which enthralled the entire gathering.

The event successfully ended with a sumptuous dinner for all present.
