Police question lover's family over youth's death


Kolkata, Feb 23 (IANS): The West Bengal police is questioning six of a family following recovery of burnt body of a youth in the Purba Medinipur district on Saturday.

According to a senior police officer, Ranjit Mandal's burnt body was recovered from the Bhupatinagar area. "Based on initial information, six people of a girl's family are being interrogated. We are waiting for the autopsy report," he said.

They were being questioned on the basis of allegations of family members of Ranjit Mandal, the police said.

The deceased's brother said Ranjit was in a relationship with a girl for five years. But the relations had gone sour, recently.

Ranjit's family members alleged that the body was found near the girl's residence. They said it was a pre-planned murder.
