Udupi, Feb 23: The Udupi district unit of Karnataka journalist union, approved by Karnataka government labour department, a subsidiary of Indian federation of working journalists, New Delhi has opened their office here.

K Shashidhar Hemmanna, district representative of Doordarshan is elected president of the journalist union. Shijith Kumar of Focus TV is elected secretary, Astro Mohan of Udayavani and Janardhan Kodavoor of Vijayavani are elected conveners and U S Shenoy of Kundaprabha is elected honorary president.

Suresh Ermal and Sathish Kumar are joint secretaries, Dr Sudhaker Nambiar and Dr Akash Raj are vice presidents, Sreyus K is treasurer, Roopesh Kalmady is the representative of state union, Ravikiran Murdeshwar and Shantaram Shetty are the legal advisors, Sukumar Muniyal, Yashoda, Sridatta Shetty and Bimba Vasanth Kumar are appointed executive committee members.
