Enough is enough, says Vidya Balan on Pakistani artiste ban

Mumbai, Feb 23 (IANS): With the Hindi film industry condemning the Pulwana terror attack and not releasing films in Pakistan besides banning all Pakistani artistes from working in India, National award-winning actress Vidya Balan on Friday said a strong stand needs to be taken this time.

"Though I have always believed that art should be kept away from all boundaries and politics, I think we have to take a stand now. Enough is enough," Vidya told the media at the launch of her debut radio show "Dhun Badal Ke Toh Dekho."

In the worst-ever terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir since militancy erupted in 1989, a suicide bomber on February 14 rammed his SUV packed with explosives into a CRPF bus in Pulwama district, killing at least 40 troopers. Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed later claimed responsibility for the attack.

When asked if art should be kept away from politics, the "Tumhari Sulu" actress said, "As an individual I believe that there is no better way to bring people together than arts, be it music, poetry, dance, theatre, cinema or any other art form. But this time I think we should just take a break from this practice and see what can be done for the future. As I said, some tough calls have to be taken at some point."

A host of Bollywood actors, including Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Ajay Devgan and Vicky Kaushal, among others, have condemned the Pulwama attack.

The film "Total Dhamaala" directed by Indra Kumar too did not release in Pakistan for the same reason.

Can anyone say how to bring a practical solution just by banning Pakistani actors and cricketers. It can just serve as a tit for tat gesture than brining any benifit out of it.

I would say entertainment, sports and trade should be kept away from politics. The boycott will only affect the industry which sold millions of copies or gives rights of telecast Bollywood movie in Pakistan. The revenue generated from the movies only keeps the industry survive on which lakhs of the employee directly and indirectly involved.
The foolishness of 'Modi Bhakta' and anchors of paid news channels have already cost India losing the chance to host 'Olympic' due to denial of a visa for Pakistani shooters in the Delhi World Cup
If one sees the pictures of PM’s sense of grief since February 14? Almost every single day since then, he has been changing suits thrice and laughing as if he is a judge in 'Kapil Sharma Show'.
The actor Vidya Balan statement is sensible. But our paid media has not shown how the artiste, singers, and comedians recently caught in 'Cobra Post' sting operation for accepting money to promote BJP and AAP for Twitter trend.
In fact, those who call from war from RSS-BJP leaders none of the family members children's enrolled for Indian Armed Forces instead they all study in reputed foreign university pursuing management courses while their political fathers continue to loot and stash wealth in tax-free havens.
I would rather say instead of boycott let 'Bollywood' industry open account for widows and orphans of Indian Forces and disburse the amount every first week of calendar month equally with proper auditing and financial statement.
I Republic TV, Zee TV, Times Now, AAJ Tak pro BJP media is serious real patriotic, let them display visuals in prime time in bold saying 'We will donate all the profit and earning for next three months for the martyr of this nation'.

We agree, Vidya Balan is an highly educated actress in the Film Industry. However, her statement is ambiguous. Its either quoted incomplete, or her English is beyond limit for a common person to understand. She should have mentioned what after 'Enough is Enough' should they be let to continue working in India, or shouldn't they ?

Its true that there is a huge Pakistani viewership to Indian Films but there are more actors working in India and make more money than they could have done in Pakistan. They surely have not come to India because their talent couldn't be explored more, but certainly to make as much money as they can within a stipulated time. When we are not ready to share natural flow of water to the country, why should we give them opportunity to make money in India ?

Vidya Balan, please be more simpler in your statements, we have one Shashi Tharoor which is more than enough.

She had said, "we should just take a break from this practice" which means we should discontinue for a while the practice of inviting and working with Pakistani artists. So she is not against the ban on Pak artists.
