Mangaluru, Feb 21: The College Day of St Agnes College ( Autonomous) was held on Wednesday, February 20 at the college grounds in the city.
Former senior manager of Karnataka Bank Ltd, HDFC bank and entrepreneur Marjorie Texeira was the chief guest. Dr Charles Lobo, IPS, Chief Post Master General, Karnataka Circle was the guest of honour.
Sr Dr Maria Roopa, Joint Secretary, St Agnes College along with the other dignitaries was accorded a grand welcome through a guard of honour.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest, Marjorie said, "We can say that the college days is an golden era of life in making the best use of the ability to reach your goal. In colleges you can learn how to build your career and life. Here you are getting a chance to learn many things apart from the books. The college campus makes you free thinkers and encourages your creativity and wisdom. You have two options, enjoy your remaining academic days and later regret or work hard and enjoy throughout your life.”
A special postal cover in the memory of centenary jubilee of St Agnes College was released at the event.
Releasing the postal cover Dr Charles Lobo, IPS said “The students of St Agnes are known for wisdom and achievements. As per my knowledge, they never fail to build a beautiful career. When the campus of an educational institution gives more freedom for the creativity of the students, that campus become popular by its students only. I am happy to know the campus is going to complete its 100 years of existence. It is a memorable and commendable achievement. It is right to register this incident in records. We, postal department, are glad to release a special postal cover in the name of centenary year of St Agnes college."
Meritorious students, sports achievers and best outgoing students of 2018-19 were felicitated on the occasion.
Principal Sr Dr M Jaswina, welcomed the gathering. Ladleen J Monteiro, Student president, PTA president and heads of the departments were present.
