Bengaluru: Sumalatha Ambareesh meets Siddaramaiah, seeks support for candidature

Bengaluru, Feb 21: Sumalaltha, who is preparing to enter the Lok Sabha election fray as an independent candidate from Mandya Lok Sabha constituency, met former chief minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, on Wednesday.

Sources said that during the courtesy call, Siddaramaiah did not commit anything to the widow of rebel star, Ambareesh. Sumalatha would be visiting Mandya on Thursday to meet the family of martyred soldier, Guru, and pacify is family members. She will also visit the residence of farmer leader, K S Puttannaiah. With each passing day, Sumatha seems to be asserting her inclination to fight the coming Lok Sabha election.

Sumalatha told the media persons that she deems it important to collect opinion of Congress leaders as her husband was associated with that party. "If there is need for the constituency to be allotted coalition partner, JD(S), I will respect the popular opinion. I am leaving the decision whether I should fight as an independent candidate or not, to the discretion of the people," she added.
