Kundapur: Murder attempt accused sentenced to life term

Kundapur, Feb 21: The additional district and sessions court here, handed down life imprisonment to a person accused of murder attempt near Shastri Circle in the town several years back. Judge of the court, Prakash Khanderi, passed this order.

The accused who has been held guilty by the court happens to be Satish Poojary. He had been charged of trying to kill a person by hitting him with an iron road in the town. On the night of December 27, 2012, Satish Poojary and Rohan Shettigar attacked Gururaj Poojary from Herikudru in Anagalli village with an iron road and threatened to kill him. The attack was launched purportedly on account of a pre-existing enmity.

The then station house officer of the town police station, Nassir Hussain, who conducted the probe, had filed a chargesheet. Out of the two accused, Rohan Shettigar died during the pendency of the court. 15 witnesses were examined. The judge had pronounced the accused guilty on February 13 and posted the case to Wednesday for deciding quantum of sentence.

District public prosecutor, Beloor Prakashchandra Shetty appeared on behalf of the prosecution in the case.
