Bengaluru: Army morale high, forces in readiness to fight - defence minister

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Feb 20: Union defence minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, asserted that the morale of the soldiers has not been dented by the recent terrorist attack. She said that the soldiers are in readiness for any kind of combat.

The minister was addressing a press conference here on Tuesday February 19 in connection with the Aero India 2019 show being held here from February 20 to 24. "Already our Prime Minister has given complete freedom to our defence forces towards handling terrorist attacks and mischievous activities of Pakistan in border areas. Along with this, the Indian populace and also the ministry have extended unconditional moral support to the forces. Therefore, there is no question of our soldiers backtracking from the work assigned to them," she explained.

Nirmala said that the unconditional support being extended to the soldiers by the people has grown by leaps and bounds after the Pulwama attack. She promised to further intensify the drive against the terrorism.

The minister sought to question Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan, about the steps taken by his government after the previous such attacks and what kind of assistance his country has extended to India to fight terrorism. She lambasted Pakistan for not taking any steps even after the courts directed the government there to take measures to contain terrorism.

Another 10 attacks like Pulwama will not make India to respond. We Indians know only to mourn our soldiers in a very emotional manner and this is what our neighbour want to see. their mission is accomplished when they see indians mourning for their dead and this is what we have been seing at its best since Pulwama happend.

56" chest and boasting about how strong we are compared to Pakistan is what I hear in all TV debates but no one has a clue if any retaliation is planned. In my openion, nothing will happen except a phony surgical strike. Neither our government nor our army has the guts to retaliate in full force and Pakistanis know it well. They have the courage to do anything within India because they know India's cowardly response or no response. I am sorry indians for being so negative because we are what we are. Nothing will change.

Can we depend upon you and your spoken assurances and commitments?
Please remember to execute as per your previously proclaimed ratio 10: 1. If you
wish to increase the ratio that is at your liberty.
Imran Khan is insisting upon producing a proof of their involvement in that terrorist act. ???

The people of India have much more trust and confidence in our brave soldiers than we have in our inept and useless ministers. It is only because of our intrepid army that our tricolour is flying high and not because of any minister.
