Mangaluru, Feb 19: It is said that Senegal police, who have taken underworld fugitive, Ravi Poojary, who was running an extortion racket by making threatening calls from his hideouts to businessmen from India, have arrested some close aides and business partners of Poojary. They are being interrogated now, sources added.

Processes required to extradite Ravi Poojary to India are moving fast. The Senegal security agencies are now collecting information about the misdeeds Ravi Poojary was involved with, even while staying in that country.

Ravi had managed his business of extortion and other activities by making use of henchmen in India for about two decades. He had changed residences including Burkina Faso and Senegal when directing underworld activities in India. The police there are collecting information of his local contacts, his supporters in criminal activities etc.

Over ten persons including Anil Agarwal, who was a partner in Ravi Poojary's hotel business at Burkina Faso, have been planned to be taken into custody for questioning. A few have already been arrested for the purpose, it is said.

In the meantime, most of the documents needed by Senegal for deporting Ravi Poojary to India have been submitted by the Mumbai police. As the Mumbai police had arrested him once in the past, some of the documents including the samples of his thumb impressions were with them.
