Former cricketer, suspended BJP leader Kirti Azad joins Congress

New Delhi, Feb 18 (IT): Suspended BJP leader Kirti Azad joined the Congress party on Monday, February 18.

He made the announcement on Twitter and said he felicitated Congress president Rahul Gandhi in the traditional Mithila style.

Kirti Azad was supposed to join the Congress last week, but that was postponed after the terrorist attack in Pulwama, in which 40 CRPF jawans were martyred.

"Met Rahul Gandhi ji," Kirti Azad had tweeted. "It was rightly decided that in a mark of respect to the martyred soldiers of Pulwama my joining the Congress will now take place on February 18."

"We will be in a state of mourning for 3 days; [the] country is bigger than a person or party and soldiers are supreme," he said.

Kirti Azad is a former India cricketer and the MP from Darbangha in Bihar.

He was suspended from the BJP for anti-party activities.

Kirti Azad is known for his controversial comments and for flagging issues related to cricket-politics nexus, over which he has often attacked Arun Jaitley in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) corruption row.
When BJP MP Kirti Azad wrote to Arun Jaitley about corruption in DDCA the letters nobody's talking about.
When an MP of the ruling party writes a letter to an all-powerful Union Minister of his own party's government, leveling some serious allegations, it is hard to fathom why the media would give it a miss.
This is the same media that runs hour-long prime time television shows titled 'Who killed Sunanda Pushkar' - named in a way that suggests that the killer(s) would be uncovered in the show.
This MPKirti Azad of ruling party calls Arun Jaitley ‘Corrupt King of DDCA’. Azad tweeted, “Arun Jaitley world’s largest democracy must know who was corrupt king of DDCA? Who embezzled 400crs during ur presidentship? Minutes book of DDCA shows only once Resolution was passed for construction of stadium which was 24 crores. Where rest of 376 crores go?
Now he has joined Congress the nation wanted to know the answers on DDCA corruption row which Kirti Azad asked Jaitley with 52 questions?
    1. If Prime Modi's BJP government wanted 'corruption-free' India will the party will answer them in writing?
    2. Is Mr. Rahul Gandhi will twitee the same question of Mr. Kirti Azad and get the answers back?
    3. Why the Congress is not filing PIL in Supreme Court on DDCA corruption row?

Kirti Azad has chosen now a new family for his political life. Instead of wishing him good luck, why so much frustration in your comments saying "One cricketer turned comedian turned idiot …..".

    Harold...
I have not said anything against Azad.
Just another Cricketer ? Is what i have asked and solely because of this chap Sidhu.
My anguish against Sidhu is only for his insensitive rantings after the terrorist attack. He does not deserve to be in any party....
Sixer Sidhu we used to call and be very proud of him.
