Pulwama attack: Jaish-e-Mohammad has close ties with Imran Khan's PTI, says Tewari

Mumbai, Feb 17(DC): Congress leader Manish Tewari has urged the Centre to take stringent action against Pakistan with regard to the Pulwama terror attack, asserting that Jaish-e-Mohammed, which claimed responsibility for the attack, enjoys "close ties" with Prime Minister Imran Khan's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Speaking on the sidelines of a book launch here on Saturday, Tewari said, “We are continuous of the opinion that this is a ghastly attack and Jaish-e-Mohammad, which has taken responsibility of this attack, has very close ties with Imran Khan's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Hence this makes Pakistan government responsible for this attack and whatever action the Indian government takes, we are with them.”

He also said that the person behind the attack was the same terrorist whom the previous NDA government had released in Kandahar in exchange of hostages in 1999 in IC 814 highjack.

“Why did this attack happen and what were the lapses needs to be investigated. However, the person behind this attack is Maulana Masood Azhar, the same man whom the previous NDA government has released in Kandahar. It is important to settle scores with them. The whole country is standing with the government and our armed forces”, he said.

A JeM terrorist rammed a vehicle laden with explosives into a CPRF convoy on Srinagar-Jammu national highway around 3.15 pm on February 14, killing as many as 40 CRPF personnel.

A day after the attack, the Centre withdrew 'Most Favoured Nation' status granted to Pakistan and called for "international isolation" of the neighbouring country.

Over 48 countries have come out in support of India and condemned the dastardly terror attack.

The fact is BJP created Jaish-e-Mohammad by releasing Masood Azhar releasing Masood Azhar during the Kandahar standoff in 1999.

These attacks would not have taken place had the JeM not been created. And who created JeM? The BJP, by releasing Masood Azhar. Who escorted Masood Azhar to Afghanistan? BJP. What did Masood Azhar do after that? He formed Jaish-e-Mohammad.

The Vajpayee government relented and asked the then External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh and the then Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajit Doval to escort the three terrorists to Kandahar in Afghanistan, where they were handed over to the Taliban.

Congress leader Manish Tewari should have asked for the resignation of the Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajit Doval for the intelligence failure despite the warning before Pulwama attack.

Intelligence Chief Ajit Doval served under late Vajpayee government failed to stop the crisis in Amritsar when the plane is landed for fueling. Once again he failed in protecting the interest of the soldiers who could have airlifted in stretchers 270 km journey.

I would rather say Congress failed as opposition to highlight the failures of Intelligence Chief Ajit Doval, who is only good in taking orders from PMO to arrest the honest CBI officer in midnight drama. The party has also failed to question Intelligence Bureau Chief son investment in government defense sectors despite being a British citizen and operates a business from Singapore.

This statement of Congress is baseless and just like the veteran reader of BJP LK Advani accusing ISI of every bomb blast during Congress regime.
