Tumakuru, Feb 17: In a one-line letter submitted to the police, parents of Dharanesh, who committed suicide on February 11 allegedly after the officials refused to renew his disability pension, have handed over a letter to the police requesting them not to continue with the investigation over their son's suicide.

The letter does not mention any reason for withdrawing the complaint. However, it is said that they orally explained to the police that they cannot afford to waste time visiting court for hearings as they have two more differently abled children to care for.

Dharanesh's father, Nagarajayya, had earlier filed complaint in Kora police station, seeking investigation into the death of his son. The action of the parents in requesting the police to desist from further probe has come as a surprise. A few people have speculated that it might be because of utter poverty, helplessness, or pressure from officials. District superintendent of police, Dr Kona Vamsi Krishna felt that the parents would have realized that their son was at fault in filing pension papers with inordinate delay. He clarified that the parents of the teenager have not cited any reasons for the decision.

In the meanwhile,it is gathered that the case will be pending for the time being till the post mortem report which has been sent to forensic science laboratory, is received. This process might take about three months, a police official stated.
