Udupi, Feb 16: After the success of ‘Noshibacho Khel', ’Sophiya’ and ‘Zanvoy No.1’ Harry Fernandes is all set to produce his fourth Konkani movie ‘Benddkar’ under the banner ‘Harry Fernandes Films’. The film will be co-produced by ‘Dolphi Rebello Productions’ in association with Prince Jacob Production and Stany Alvares Creations.
The muhurtham of the film was held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Barkur. At the beginning, homage was paid to the martyrs of Pulwama terror attack.
Fr Philip Neri Aranha, parish priest, Barkur Church, conducted the prayers, seeking blessings for the entire team of Benddkar from the almighty.
CREDAI Udupi president Dr Jerry Vincent Dias inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp while Daijiworld Media founder Walter Nandalike gave the start to the movie with a clapper.
Delivering the inaugural address, Dr Jerry Vincent Dias said, “I have produced few movies and know in and out of the film industry. For Konkani movies to succeed, the Konkani community needs to view the movie in cinema theatres and hence support the Konkani language and culture. Without the audience, Konkani film industries won’t go forward. If the audience shows their support then more producers will come forward to produce films in the Konkani language.”
“Today we have witnessed the Muhurtham of film Benddkar. If we go a decade back we will know the importance of Benddakar on all occasions. Today people go for DJ and other type of music for various occasions. This film focuses on the life of Benddakar,” he said. He also stressed on the importance of promoting Konkani films, so that it reaches a wider audience.
Speaking on the occasion Walter Nandalike said, “I will support the words of Jerry Dias that audience need to go to the theatre to watch the movie. But if the film brought which will be watchable from the audience. If a new trend has been brought in the Konkani film industry then the credit goes to Harry Fernandes. We need to accept the negative and need to learn something from it and Harry Fernandes. We have taken the challenge to give the best movie in the form of Benddakar. We wish the best to the entire team of Benddkar.”
Varsha Usgaonkar, famous actor from Bollywood in her message said, “Film industry is the industry of dreams but it is a world of gamble. Just like how the government is for the people, to the people and by the people, same way is a movie. But it is the people who decide the quality of the film. Movie can succeed in creating an audio visual impact through which the message will be more strong and effective when it reaches people. This is the third time I am working with Harry Fernandes and I am grateful to him for believing in me. I have got an opportunity to work with him in Zanvoy No 1 team again. I thank him for this opportunity.”
Harry Fernandes, director of Benddkar movie expressed his view and said, “I will try to get the feedback from people once the movie is ready. If ready will re-shoot some which I have done in the past. I thank the entire crew of the movie Benddkar.”
Shaila D'Souza, president, Barkur Gram Panchayat, Glanny D'Souza, director Glens Productions, Ronald Martis, promoter - Tulu film 'Kambalabettu Bhatrena Magal’, Kishoo Barkur, director, Daijiworld Udupi, Prince Jacob From Goa, lead actress Naisa, lead Actor Kevin D’Mello, Dolphy and Jacintha Rebello, producers of the movie, Jerald Gonsalves, vice president, Parish Pastoral Council, St Peter Church – Barkur, Sr Silvestina, Superior, Barkur Convent were present on the occasion.

Prominent roles will be played by Mangalorean, Goan and Mumbai artists, including Varsha Usgaonkar, Prince Jacob, Dolla Nandigudda, Deepak Paladka, John D’Silva, Kevin D’Mello, Naisa and others. Music will be provided by Patson Pereira, lyrics by Wilson Kateel, camera by Shafeeq Shaikh, dance choreography by Avil D’cruz, overseas distribution by Sandhya Creations – Shodhan Prasad.
