Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Feb 16: MLC and parliamentary secretary of revenue department, Ivan D'Souza has urged to form a Commission for the Christian community in order to know the standard of living, financial and social status of the community.

‘’Rs 200 crore is reserved in the recent state budget announced by CM Kumaraswamy, which is the highest grant so far given to the community in the whole country,” Ivan said.

Ivan also said that chief minister Kumaraswamy and leaders of the party will be felicitated by the community for their kind gesture.

Ivan also said that this grant should be used for the protection of old churches in the state, development of cemeteries, construction of community centers, organizing skill development and employ-ability, building of lodging facilities for students and employees who come to the city from rural areas for studies and employment and also the government has to form plans at concessional rates for the Christians to undertake pilgrimage to holy places of Christianity.

I don't agree with this kind of special grant for Brahmins and christians, as announced by Kumaraswamy. I don't dispute that there are many poor families in Brahmins and christians. Financial support to be given to economically weaker section in all religion for education, health and marriages. Otherwise community leaders will waste the grant to construct building which is no use to the poor. All religious place should be built from the support of the community people and not from the govt.

Don't use the Government grants for constructing churchs and buildings instead use the money to developent of christain community as a whole, empower the children with education and skill training and also train them to various competetive exams like KPSC, UPSC,SSC etc.
Let the community leaders use the existing manpower especially the retired officers of the community for the setting up of the CDC, let the leaders of the community put pressure on the Government immideately to set up CDC and to post a suitable IAS or KAS officer so the corporation start functioning once it is started the funds allotted for the purpose has to be used without giving chance to lapse.
But I doubt about immideately setting up of CDC since we christians are very lazy and have the habit of pulling legs.

Mysore Road Christian Cemetary which caters the burial of dead of nearly a dozen parishes of Bangalore Archdiocese, along Mysore Road and its suburb, is the worst sufferer, as a portion of it has been taken away for Road widening leaving hardly space available for the dead to be buried.
Present committee managing this burial ground, administered by the Parish Priest of Peter and Paul Parish, may take note of this alarming situation and get land allotted by the Government, for a new burial ground.
