Brahmavar, Feb 15: A person, who was named as an accused in a rape case which had happened within the limits of Sringeri police station in Chikkamagaluru district, is living in a rented home near Kota in the taluk along with family members since the last sometime. The police, who came to know about his current whereabouts, arrived here to take him into custody. At that time, the accused and his lady family member tried to end their lives. This incident happened within Kota police station limits on Wednesday February 14.

The accused happens to be Prakash from Sringeri. He was identified as an accused in a rape case which is two years old. He was living in a rented house owned by Jagannath at Chitrapady village since a year along with his mother, two children, and a woman.

When the police approached his house to arrest the accused, the family members did not open the door. They claimed that the accused was not at home. Thereafter, an advocate came there, and promised to the police to see that the accused is produced in the court within three days. Relying on this assurance, the police went away. However, under the instructions of the district superintendent of police, the police personnel arrived at that house again, at which the family members threatened to commit suicide.

At the request of the locals, the advocate who had come there went into the house for holding talks. At that time, Prakash and a woman named Supriya who was with him, were reportedly trying to hang themselves. Immediately they were brought down, and admitted into a hospital at Brahmavar with the help of an ambulance.

A case about this incident was registered in Kota police station.

Our Police too are not normal. Why didnt they arrest him with consequenses?Because advocate tells they go back?what kind of laws allow them to go back when arrest a culprit I cant understand. They should also understand after police go back one will never see the culprits. They have time enough to disappear from spot, like Mallya did.Now arrest police. It was an attempt to suecide when police came was only a show.why didnt they suecide before.?keep a watch in hospital otherwise they might try there too to slip out.

The rape accused is indeed a very stupid person. He should have joined BJP as a member and Amit Shah himself would have welcomed him and proved that the victim woman was the true culprit.

He knows to rape also as well as knows to commit suicide in front of the police/people... If he is that much ashamed to go with the police, why did he commit rape....? Arrest both rapist and the lady who give support for him.. Two years it took to arrest him? In between how many ladies/girls he must have raped god alone knows....? When he has a lady at home, what Is the necessity for that idiot to go out of the house to rape... .???!!.

Did he not think about the consequences when he did that act before two years (well, I agree he is an accused, yet to be charged) ? If he wasn't guilty, would he have attempted suicide now ?

Let the law get harder on offenders, we don't want crime prevailing in our day-to-day life and our women getting unsafe with every passing day.
