No one in India can repay cow's debt: Modi

Vrindavan, Feb 11 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that no one in the country can repay the debt of the cow's milk, saying the bovine has been an important part of India's tradition and culture.

Addressing a public gathering here, the Prime Minister also said that cows were a vital element of India's rural economy.

The cow, with its milk, curd and buttermilk, has nourished the children of the country.

"We cannot repay the debt of cow's milk. Cow is an important element of India's tradition and culture," Modi said.

For the welfare of the animal, Modi said his government had taken several steps, including the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, to improve the health of cows.

He said his government had also decided to establish a 'Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog' with an allocation of Rs 500 crore in the last Interim Budget.

Just like farmers, cattle rearers can also avail loans through Kisan Credit Card worth Rs 3 lakh.

"This loan has helped cattle rearers a lot. This will be a crucial step in boosting the dairy industry in the country."

The Prime Minister was in Uttar Pradesh's Vrindavan to serve food to school children to mark the three billionth meal of the Akshaya Patra Foundation.

India was a agricultural society for many centuries, and an overwhelming majority of Indians being Hindus were vegetarians. In the past India faced many droughts and famines that wiped out a large part of the population. However, those who survived had a cow or had access to her milk, and by the nourishment given by that animal, they pulled through those hard days and survived. It is for this reason that the cow began to be worshipped, and some began to regard her as a mother. Just as a new born baby cannot survive without her mothers milk, the cow began to be regarded as a mother who gave her milk and so Hindus have a special sentiments towards the cow.

Hence, I personally feel we should respect the sentiments of our Hindu brothers and sisters and avoid killing the cow and eating its meet. Now I know some of you may say that India is the largest exporter of beef, and if foreigners can eat why not us. Firstly, I understand that the 6 main exporters of meat, are of the bull and buffalo. But most importantly if a Hindu brother regards the cow as his mother, and has a special place for the animal in his heart then we would not harm the cow, and give up eating its meat voluntarily.

Lastly, I would add that lynching someone in the name of the cow is also wrong and that must be stopped, for 2 wrongs do not make 1 right.

While narrating the multiple uses of cow, why is he shying away from mentioning the major use that our country is so proud of, top place in beef export,? In fact after 2014 beef is the only commodity where we have improved in terms of export.

No one can repay the debt of a Camel. Apart from all the benefits that a cow provides, the camel is also used as a ride to cover long distances in desert. That's why it is called The Ship of the Desert.

Any Yojana or Aayog for the welfare of Camel; as a thanksgiving? At least the Adhar card is deserved by the Camel.

There is nothing that is created by "The Almighty" , except for the benefit of the mankind; either contributing directly or indirectly to the humanity as a part of the life cycle of this universe.

In my opinion his cow protection/welfare schemes have caused more harm to mankind in the name of politics than any benefit to the animal itself. Its nothing but hippocrasy. Was eating beef in India a problem in the past ? Didnt beef also provide nourishment? Why is it a problem now ? Looks like he knows only his traditions and culture with which he can play the emotional and sentimental hindutva card with the majority and take them for a ride.

    Sir
I agree fully what you say.
But what is this ? Why are you allowing this ? Why are you allowing cow to be killed in some BJP states ? How Indian cow meat is available in Canada and the world ? Is this true or false ? Why double standard ?

Do you know that the biggest cow slaughterhouse (cow killing factory) in the WORLD is called alkabir in 400 acres of land with high security and many of the workers are hindus. Al-Kabeer exports Pvt.Ltd. Rudraram Village, Andhra Pradesh, Patancheru, Medak, Hyderabad – 500 033.

BJP has taken donation from Al_kabir. Being a Hindu, do you feel pleasant taking donation from a person whose income is by cow meat export ? When majority of Hindus worship cow as mother and God, why can't you close the cow killing factory ?

Then how did Indian achieved 'Pink revolution' to become number one 'Beef' exporter in the world?

During 'Demonetisation' make his age-old mother stand in the cue outside the bank to show India that his mother also likes others suffering.
Now he is using 'Gau Mata' in Uttar Pradesh which has maximum numbers of Lok Sabha seats.

The violence perpetrated by Hindu organizations in the name of cow protection impelled Gandhi to shun the term in his later years. He consciously chose terms like ‘gau seva’ (caring for the cow) or ‘pashu-sudhaar’ (improvement of livestock).

While the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi Preferred ‘Goseva’ to ‘Goraksha’ , Prime Minister Modi choose 'Beef exports'.
So Modij vows more to cow in addition to his promise of 50 days to correct the mess during 'Demonetisation'.
    Jai Hind

You are wrong, Modiji, you should have said : "The one who milked a cow and sold it for a profit, can never repay her debt".

This is because, all those who are benefited out of a cow, have purchased their product (milk). They did not steal it from the cow. If the cow-keepers have misused the animal, the entire mankind (at-least all Indians) shouldn't be held responsible for it. If a farmer has used her reject, he has fed her making him blameless. But the one who milked her, has deprived the calf from its natural food and made his life luxurious out of the earnings - none others.

Please don't think that the masses are fools to believe you, an unpad ganwaar who faked Masters Degree. You will behave according to your worth. Position doesn't make a man wiser. If a cow is your maker(parent), you go and worship her. Let others respect their biological parents.
