Mangaluru: Woman dies after unidentified vehicle hits her while crossing road

Mangaluru, Jan 20: A woman died after an unidentified vehicle hit her while she was crossing the road at Thokkottu junction near here on Saturday, January 19.

Jayanti (67), wife of Ratnakar, a resident of Ranipur Santoshnagar, was going to the bank by walk on NH 66 when a vehicle hit her. She received grievous injuries to her head and died on the spot.

Jayanti is survived by husband, three sons and two daughters. Her younger son had left for Dubai on the morning of Saturday via Bengaluru. However, as he got the news while he was in Bengaluru, he returned from there to attend the last rites of his mother.

The identity of the vehicle is known through CCTV. Mangaluru South traffic police have registered a case and are searching for the vehicle which caused the accident.

    Very sad and tragic.Nowadays noone cares for traffic rules and follows.Even for people there is no proper crossing signs.Hrd to walk or cross.Now police are searching for vehicle?First lookout for the person who caused accident .when the accident happened he didnt even stop and care for victim and ran away ,God too wouldnt help him when he meets a accident.Let him remember this .Oneday or other he will be caught and have to pay heavy compansation to family and straight into Prison no compromiss.May her soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathy to her family.

    What a tragedy for a woman to die after being hit by an unidentified vehicle while crossing road. It is only a question of time before the culprit is apprehended by the Police and strictly dealt with.
