Recover Rs 982cr from resort where MLAs are staying: BJP to Cong

Bengaluru, Jan 19(PTI): Alleging that the resort where Congress legislators were staying fearing poaching owes Rs 982 crores to the state government as a penalty in a land encroachment case, the state BJP Saturday asked the Congress leaders to collect the amount and use it to waive farm loans.

"Eagleton resort owe GOK Rs 998cr Penalty amount in land encroachment case. Now that Congress Party will spend time in resort we request 'Maryada Purushothama' Sri.@siddaramaiah,@DKShivakumar &@dineshgrao to collect this money while u return U can use it for farmer loan waiver," Karnataka BJP said in a tweet, citing media reports.

After the crucial legislature party meeting on Friday, the Congress had shifted all its MLAs to Eagleton Resort to "escape" allegedly from the BJP's "onslaught".

Recently, during the assembly session at Belagavi district, replying to a question raised by JD(S) leader A T Ramaswamy, Revenue Minister R V Deshpande had said the state government will take all measures to collect Rs 982 crores from the resort for encroaching upon 77 acres of government land.

Member of Parliament from Bengaluru (rural) D K Suresh, who was reportedly overseeing the stay of the MLAs at the resort, told reporters that the encroachment case was before the court and the facilities were not being provided for free.

"During the Siddaramaiah government itself, about 20 acre was got released and taken position after measurement. It (the case) was before the court. The resort will not provide us facilities for free," he said in response to a question on the issue.

He said the party will pay the money and submit a payment bill if anybody wants it to do that. It was at this very resort that the Income Tax department had conducted raids on senior Congress leader and minister D K Shivakumar in 2017, when he was hosting 44 Gujarat MLAs to prevent the BJP from allegedly "poaching" them during the Rajya Sabha polls in that state.

India’s debt up 50% to ₹82 lakh crore in Modi era.

Total liabilities of the govt have increased 49% to ₹82 lakh crore in the last four-and-half years during the Modi govt, as per the 8th Edition of the Status Paper on Govt Debt released on Friday.

Compared to the latest data available till September 2018 when the total debt of the Central government stood at ₹82,03,253 crore, the corresponding amount till June 2014 was ₹54,90,763 crore, the Finance Ministry's data on government borrowings shows.

The huge surge in government's debt has been propelled by 51.7% growth in public debt from ₹48 lakh crore to ₹73 lakh crore in the four-and-half year period, which in turn was driven by 54% rise in internal debt to about ₹68 lakh crore.

Dependence on market loans shows a similar rise of 47.5% to more than ₹52 lakh crore during the period. While debt raised through gold bonds was nil at the end of June 2014, it stood at ₹9,089 crores including the gold monetization scheme.

A series of vote-catching measures planned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he braces for a difficult general election may cost more than Rs. 1 lakh crore.

India’s federal fiscal deficit was Rs. 5.9 lakh crore, or 3.5 % of GDP, in the 2017-18 fiscal year.

The BJP has data of resorts taxes of opposition leaders. But it doesn't want to show the national budget deficit and debt to the nation.

Perhaps Congress doesn't know how to reply them back in the same tone with more questions on Indian economy.
This question itself shows that how the party is witch hunting Congress minister DK Shivkumar who saved the party time to time.

Comment on the subject of the news. As you don't have anything to prove that the sivkars r trying to collect the dues overdue or the penalty from this resort you start confusing with non related statements. A typical sickular statregy. How a resort can encroach that much of Govt land without the help of these law makers . As it is the benami property of dkc the coilation govt has no power /guts to take action.

Sir, You intentionally forget to address the 'denotification' in which BJP's state party president went to jail and spent 21 days.
How come Prime Minister Modi can who promised the nation 'corruption free' India appoints most corrupt Chief Minister of South India whose minister's watched 'porn' in the assembly and spent a holiday in resorts on Bellary Reddy's illicit money?
Do BJP has any moral responsibility when the whole nation is stood outside the bank during 'Demonetisation' and Bail for sale scam Janardhan Reddy managed Rs500 crores lavish wedding of his daughter?
Brother, wake up. India is towards total bankrupt. Save India from day loot of crony capitalist.

Have you ever voted for NaMo...No... Still no problem.... He has created Infrastructure for India worth more than 15 L per head in the last 5 years so that whenever you visit India you don't feel like you are not visiting any third world country but our motherland India. But it takes time to clear the mess created over the last 70 years. Let NaMo get one more term so that you may think of permanently settling in India.

Both Congress and BJP MLA's are in resorts and hence both ruling and opposition MLA's are dead and may their souls doesn't rest in peace. Congress and BJP should be kicked out of India. There should be military rule in India.
