Abu Dhabi: Karnataka Sangha, Coastal Friends win KSS Throwball tourney

Abu Dhabi, Jan 19: Koosamma Shambhu Shetty (KSS) Memorial Throwball tourney was held in Abu Dhabi on Friday, January 18.

Koosamma Shambhu Shetty is the mother of NRI entrepreneur and philanthropist Dr B R Shetty. This tournament is held in her honour.

In Women's Throwball, Karnataka Sangha Abu Dhabi was the winner. Konkans Dubai was runner up and the third place went to Bunts Dubai.

 

 



In Men's Throwball, Coastal Friends were the winners. KCO Abu Dhabi was runner up and third place went to Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha.

Earlier, Sarvotham Shetty welcomed the gathering after which the programme was inaugurated by releasing balloons. Chief operating officer (COO) of UAE Exchange Sudhir Kumar Shetty was felicitated on his retirement.

Dr B R Shetty was the chief guest but could not attend due to some commitments. His daughter-in-law Shivani Binay Shetty spoke on behalf of Shetty and family.

The inaugural was followed by matches.

The following were the teams who participated enthusiastically in the tourney.

Women’s Throwball - Group A consisted of teams Karnataka Sangh Abu Dhabi, KCO Abu Dhabi, Konkans Dubai and Mangalore United.

Women’s Throwball - Group B consisted of teams ACME Mangalore Strikers UAE, Coastal Friends and Bunts Dubai.

Men’s Throwball - Group A consisted of teams ACME Mangalore Strikers UAE, KCO Abu Dhabi and Coastal Friends.

Men’s Throwball - Group B consisted of Bunts Dubai, Konkans Dubai and Karnataka Sangh Abu Dhabi.
