Bengaluru: Resort politics - BJP clings to glimmer of hope

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 19: Even though BJP leaders have been claiming that they are not into horse trading, some of them, it is said, are continuing with their efforts to reduce the coalition government into minority, with the slender hope of wresting power from the coalition government. Even as Congress also resorted to resort politics, BJP leaders, as per information, have given a fillip to their efforts to erode the combined strength of JD(S) and Congress in the assembly.

BJP legislators holed up in a resort at Gurugram near Delhi are moving to the city on Saturday January 19. It is said that state BJP president, B S Yeddyurappa, told the legislators on Friday midnight to shift to Bengaluru. It is said that once the flock of MLAs reach here, BJP may convene legislature party meeting where certain decisions are expected to be taken. Something seems to be brewing in the minds of the BJP leaders going by their sudden reversal of the decision to keep their MLAs at Gurugram for some more days, and asking them to rush back to the city.

Yeddyurappa

Yeddyurappa, who was expected to be in Siddaganga Math to monitor the health condition of its chief, Shivakumar Swamiji, instead stayed put in the city on Friday and got busy with   discussions with top leadership of his party.

While chairman of the coordination committee of the coalition government, Siddaramaiah, has said that four absentee MLAs, Ramesh Jarkiholi, Nagendra, Umesh Jadhav and Mahesh Kamatalli would be served with show cause notices, there is information that these four might reach here on Saturday and tender their resignation letters to the assembly speaker, Ramesh Kumar. There is also curiosity about the BJP's claim that 11 disgruntled Congress legislators are in touch with it. Hectic parleys and hurling of accusations at each other by the two parties involved therefore may continue for the time being, political circles feel.

This time around JD(S)-Congress response the secret operation of BJP is very slow. The MLA's are lost from several days should be wake up call.
As far as Congress decline it should blame the coastal leadership in Karnataka. If the party has ever taken the bold stand of investigating the links of 'Namo Naresh' with RTI activist murder, the whole fortune of its party would have reversed in at least Mangalore, Udupi, Uttar Kannada, and Chickmangalore.
The soft Hindutva approach of Congress has even failed to resolve the case of rationalist murder of Kalubugri and Gauri Lankesh. It the party during ruling has resolved and banned the organization would affected the Rashtriya Swayamasevak Sangh that would have indirectly impacted the BJP not only in Karnataka but in Goa and Maharashtra.
For Congress, it will be too late to avert the disaster unless 'Reverse operation Kamala' takes places.
If the party succeeds in implementing 'Anti-Defection law' and fight jointly then nothing is going to happen the coalition.
