Kundapur, Jan 18: “Gas cylinders under Ujwala scheme are already distributed among 42,0000 beneficiaries in Byndoor Vidhan Sabha and Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituencies. The remaining 12,500 beneficiaries holding BPL cards will be receiving them by March 15,” said Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency MP B Y Raghavendra.

He was speaking after distributing free gas and stoves to Ujwala scheme beneficiaries at Harry Rebello auditorium, Hejamadi on Friday.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started the scheme for smoke free country, protection of forests and health of women. If gas is already booked in the name of BJP card holders, visit the department of food and civil supplies,” he said.

“Drinking water is being given priority in Byndoor. A certain amount will be set aside in the budget for Varahi irrigation project. Land will be reserved for airport in Byndoor. Sea shore will be converted as tourism spot sharing the cost in the ratio of 60:40 between the centre and state. Maravanthe, Uppunda and Shirur Alvegadde ports will be developed at a cost of Rs 200 crores. Ayushman scheme amount for BJP card holders is increased from two lacs to five lacs. It is fixed at 1.5 lacs for APL card holders. 11,500 people in Byndoor will be issued policies that will help in nearly 1,650 sicknesses,” he said.

Zilla Panchayat member Shobha G Putran suggested simplifying the process of gas distribution under Ujwala scheme.

Kundapur taluk panchayat president Shamala Kunder, standing committee president Narayana K Gujjadi, members Raju Devadiga, Surendra Kharvi, Karan Poojary, Tahsildar Tippeswamy, Nodal officer Junez, gas agents Venkatesh Kini, Rajesh, Pravin Kumar, Sathish, Hemmadi grama panchayat president Jyothi Harish Bhandary and others were present.

Nithyananda Pai gave an introductory address. Byndoor BJP block president Sadananda Uppinakudru welcomed the gathering.

MP Raghavendra said that Byndoor MLA is trying for the last three days to find ways to make Byndoor a tourist spot. “Byndoor MLA Sukumar Shetty has not gone to Delhi for enjoyment. He was thinking of development and met union ministers for the purpose. His opponents are spreading false rumors,” he said.

“We have not done Operation Kamala. Karnataka chief minister Kumaraswamy telephones our MLAs. JD(S) and Congress are blaming BJP to hide their failures. People in the land will not forgive them,” he said.

“The coalition government is boasting of loan waiver. But it has not helped farmers. BJP will rule the state under the leadership of Yeddyurappa in the days to come,” he said.
