Raichur police look after cows rescued from slaughterhouse

Daijiworld Media Network - Raichur (SP)

Raichur, Jan 18: After the police here rescued 15 cattle which were being illegally transported to slaughterhouse, they are at a loss as to where they can be kept and cared for. As they have failed to find out a suitable location for the animals, they are currently looking after these cows at the police station itself.

The city has been encountering the problem of cattle left to graze for themselves on roads and streets. At the same time, people have been taking away the cattle and slaughtering them at will. So far the municipal officials have not given the operation of the slaughterhouse on contract o anyone. At the same time, they collect fee from people who bring cattle there for slaughtering. Therefore, cattle found anywhere and everywhere are being brought by all and sundry for slaughtering.

Acting on reliable information, police personnel of Sadar Baar station had rescued 15 cows and calves out of 70 cattle.

Some are indulging in the task of taking away cattle that are freely grazing on the roads to the slaughterhouse. The municipality, which is expected to streamline the system and take action against the violators, is turning a blind eye to the situation. People are angry about the senseless slaughter going on by unscrupulous people without any authority. Moreover, as the waste after collecting cattle flesh and pelt are allowed to rot at the spot, the area is covered in terrible stench. Many locals are insistent that the slaughterhouse should be shifted from its current location.

The management of cattle shelter here is reluctant to take in street cattle which move about and eat up plastic and other waste. Therefore the cattle have remained in the care of police.

City municipal commissioner, Ramesh Nayak, in reply to queries, said that he does not have information about 70 cattle languishing in the slaughterhouse. He said he will get information from the workers there, visit the spot and undertake verification. He clarified that he has asked his staff to shift the cattle moving around aimlessly to a safe place in consultation with the animal husbandry department.

A local, Sandeep, has accused the municipality of failing to protect the cows. He said that the slaughterhouse has not been given on contract to any specific persons because of which illegal activities are happening. "I have complained to the police many a time about illegal trafficking of the cattle and they have rescued cows. Still the people have not stopped slaughter of cows," he rued.

On one side police and jobless are rescuing the cattle. Slaughter houses are closed so that poor people can not eat beef....!!! On the other side export is going on in full swing...!!!! This is nothing but BJP's tactic to please One community for votes only...Those people who think that BJP is protecting cows are taken for a ride. I hope people will understand this. In Goa, Kerala etc beef is legal for consumption and BJP do not oppose that for their vote bank and other states it is illegal...!!!!! What kind of cow love is this...????? Can anybody throw some light on this...!!!!!?????
