Kuwait: Mogaveers Association Kuwait holds third annual general body meeting

Kuwait, Jan 15: The Third annual general body (AGM) meeting of Mogaveers Association Kuwait (MAK) was held on January 11, 2019, at Tamarind Restaurant , Abu Halifa in the city.

As is customary and traditional, the proceedings of the MAK AGM commenced with a prayer song sung by Santhosh Kunder, followed by lighting of the lamp by President Ramesh Kidiyoor, the Management Committee members Vikyath Boloor , Poonam Mendon, Rajesh Mendon, Praveen Mendon, Prashanth Boloor, Kishore Kotian and senior MAK members Gopal Suvarna, Ashok Suvarna and Chennaraj.

The Programme was beautifully hosted by Suresh Salian, who welcomed all the MAK members to the event and invited all the committee members to the dais. A special prayer was held by all for the seven missing fishermen from Malpe, who are working for boat ‘Suvarna Thribuja’ to come back home safely.



The General Secretary, Poonam Mendon read the Annual Report of the activities of the association for the year 2018, while the Treasurer, Rajesh Mendon read out the financial report for the year, both of which were approved by the members.

Some of the major events of 2018 are as follows:

MAK organized its second indoor, National level Volleyball and Throw Ball Tournament under the title of ‘MAK Champion Trophy 2018 ‘, which was held on Feb 25 at Qadisiya Sports Club, Hawally .

MAK also participated in the Diwali Mela conducted by IIK on November 2, 2018. Team MAK showcased rich cultural heritage of Tulunadu by performing three dance forms of Yakshagana, Deva Darshana Bali and Boota Kola, which was highly appreciated by the audience.

As part of the welfare project, scholarships were given to first three meritorious students of Mogaveera Management schools in India like Mahalaksmi English Medium School, Uchila and Sagar Vidya Mandir, Beach Road, Padubidri.

The outgoing members of the management committee Ramesh Kidiyoor, Vikyath Boloor , Praveen Mendon and Prashanth Boloor were honoured with mementos for their dedicated service to the association. A special memento was given to Sachidananda Suvarna, who designed the MAK logo during inception as well been a designer for any requirements needed by MAK. Ramesh Kidiyoor, the outgoing president in his speech thanked all the members for their support & urged all the members to be united and take the Association forward to the next level.

Games were conducted by Suresh Salian and Praveen Mendon for all the MAK members. Melodious songs were sung by renowned artistes of MAK Suresh Salian, Praveen Mendon, Dinesh Suvarna and Kishore Kotian.

MAK organised ‘Mr & Mrs Mogaveera Kuwait’ in which, Nishant Salian bagged the tittle Mr. Mogaveera. Mrs Mogaveera was bagged by Kusuma Girish. Stylish Icon title was given to Girish Salian and special prize was given to Master Jai for his confidence.

A comedy skit ‘Padmashree Aithapanna’ was presented. This was directed and scripted by Cultural Secretary Praveen Mendon. Artistes were MAK members Kishore Kotian, Arun Mendon, Paresh Karkera and Dinesh Suvarna. Background music was scored by Rakesh Suvarna. Tulunadu dance form bootakola was beautifully performed by Kiran Kumar and Prashanth Kunder Honnala.

The returning officer, Sachidananda Suvarna announced the new managing committee for the year 2019.

The group unanimously elected Rajesh Mendon as the president. He has been an active member of MAK and also the Treasurer for 2018.

General secretary: Poonam Mendon, Bolar
Treasurer: Kishore Kotian, Udupi
Cultural secretary: Paresh Karkera, Bokkapatna
Sports secretary: Dinesh Suvarna,Udupi
PRO and Welfare officer: Arun Mendon, Boloor 

The managment committee members introduced themselves, thanked and assured all the members for rendering their best service during their tenure. President, Rajesh Mendon in his speech thanked all the members for electing him as president. He also assured the members that management committee would support and provide help to any member who is in need of help. He urged everyone to support and come forward for the upcoming event ‘MAK Champion Trophy 2019’, a National Level Volley Ball and Throwball tournament, which will be held on Feb 25, 2019, at American International School, Maidan Hawally, in the city.

An executive committee of 17 members was announced by the president. The names of the members are as follows:

Suresh Salian, Sachidananda Suvarna, Dr Vikyath Boloor, Divakar Kotian, Jaya Kotian, Kiran Kumar, Purandar Manchi, Nishant Salian, Prashanth Kundar, Deepak Puthran, Dhanjay Mendon, Geetha Suvarna, Rakshith Suvarna, Srinivas Puthran, Nithin Suvarna, Manjunath Mogaveera and Pandari Kanchan.

Being the founder member and president Ramesh Kidiyoor was chosen as the convener by all since he has been a very good mentor with his best leadership quality.

Below Welfare Projects would continue as informed by the President:

*Death grant of Rs One lac in case of death of any active member, financial help will be provided to next of kin of the deceased.

*Financial help (health grant) of Rs 25,000 will be given to the members in case of serious health issues or permanent disability or severe injury due to accident.

*Merit cum means scholarship: Children of MAK members residing in Kuwait or India would be awarded scholarship of Rs10,000 for 10th Standard Students and Rs 20,000 for 12th Standard Students.

Scholarship for Mogaveera Management School in India

President, Rajesh Mendon also announced that scholarship of Rs 7,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 would be awarded to the first three Meritorious students respectively for the year of 2017-2018,  for the following schools of the Mogaveera Community:

Mahalaksmi English Medium School, Uchila and Sagar Vidya Mandir,Beach Road, Padubidri.

A sumptuous lunch was served by Tamarind Restaurant.

Prizes were given away to the winners of games. Dinakar Salian and Kusuma Girish for Musical Chair. Winners of Quiz Vittal Sriyan and Kishore Kotian. Geetha Suvarna and her team of eight members won the Plate game which was the Ice-breaker.

Instant prizes were given away to Geetha Suvarna, Sashikala Kunder, Srinivas Puthran and Deepak Puthran .

‘Lucky Mogaveera’ was won by Santhosh Kunder.

Beautiful moments of the day were captured by Kiran Kumar, Paresh Karkera and Nishant Salian.

In her vote of thanks, Poonam Mendon expressed gratitude to each and every member who supported to make the event successful.

The event came to an end with a group photo of the association and singing of the national anthem.

It was totally a fun filled day for all the MAK members who enjoyed all the activities. Memories of which will always be cherished.
