Mangaluru, Jan 14: The preparation for silver jubilee celebration of Dr M N Rajendra Kumar as the president of SCDCC bank is in full swing. The programme will be held at Nehru Maidan on January 19.

Addressing media persons here on Monday, January 14, president of M N Rajendra Kumar Abhinandana Samithi, Deviprasad Shetty said, “Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy will inaugurate the silver jubilee celebration. Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshetra Dharmastala Dr D Veerendra Heggade will preside over the function. Deputy chief minister Dr G Parameshwar will inaugurate Akara Grantha while union minister D V Sadananda Gowda will inaugurate the procession. Minister Bandeppa Kashempur will inaugurate the museum and minister D K Shivakumar will inaugurate the Vishanthi souvenir."

"Udupi district in-charge minister Jayamala, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister U T Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and all local MLAs will take part in the celebration,” added Deviprasad.

Devi Prasad Shetty further said, "During this programme Dr M N Rajendra Kumar will be honoured with the title ‘Sahakari Bhushan’. Three stages will be set up and 1,000 volunteers and 450 home guards will be appointed for the celebration.”

“As many as 19 halls have been booked in and around Mangaluru for the purpose of accommodating those who are joining the celebration. We have requested toll gate staff not to collect money from the vehicles who are taking part in the event as we are paying the toll in advance. Parking facilities have been made for the vehicles in prime locations. As many as 14 committees have been formed for the smooth functioning of the event. Prior to the programme, procession led by Dr Mohan Alva will be carried out,” he added.
