Mangaluru: Missing boat with seven fishermen - handiwork of Pak terrorists?

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jan 12: The information that Pakistan-based terrorist organizations have been trying to target Karnataka coast to push terrorists into India has come as a bolt from the blue. The terrorists, who are reportedly planning 'Samundari Jihad' against India, are said to have trained teams of terrorists to swim even in the deep sea and survive for days. A team of terrorists with over a dozen members, it is said, has left Pakistan shore and the union home department, which has been alerted by the intelligence, has asked the navy and Coastal Security Force in Karnataka to be on high alert.

It is thought that the terrorists want to sneak into India through Karnataka coast as it is located close to Kerala, where the terrorists reportedly have sleeper cells. They probably have planned to forcibly hijack boats, tankers etc and use them to reach India and indulge in disruptive activities during Republic Day celebrations.

The incident, in which the 'Suvarna Tribhuja' fishing boat from Malpe with seven fishermen on board has gone missing, has come as a challenge for the intelligence department. There are no clues about either the boat's whereabouts or its fishermen, and only hypothetical theories are being floated as of now. Therefore, the prospects of the boat having been hijacked appear to be bright and the home department has asked navy and police personnel of Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat and neighbouring states also to keep a close watch on activities on the coast and increase security at these places, sources say.

Unless the news comes from officials of the Department of Home affairs this is just theory. After the 9/11 attacks, the Indian coast is on high alert. Now Mangalore, Bhatkal and Karwar being major coastal patrol zones it is highly likely this attack is going to repeat.

Unlike 9/11 attacks which have more association with 'Saffron terror' file to close the file by investigation officer Late Hemant Karkare, this theory can't be ruled out with the Lok Sabha elections with BJP is having no hot issues of 'nationalism'.

Now Jammu and Kashmir are having no government and directly under Central's rule chances of attacks from North will play fewer dividends to the party. This hijack theory perfectly suits the political game of communalism mixed with nationalism.

When Baba Ramdev aide can cross the border and have met with India's most wanted terrorist Hafiz Saeed, it is most unlikely that Indian intelligence having any clue about this missing unless it is a natural disaster.
For Indian fisherman Strait of Lanka is more dangerous and frequent with more arrest than the western Coast.

There is no point in playing blame game. These poor fishermen who are bread-winners for their families are lost and it should the objective of all concerned to try and help them.

It is good to see the navy and police personnel of Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat and neighboring states are keeping a close watch on activities on the coast and increasing security at these places.

Hope the efforts of all concerned will bear results and the poor fishermen will be rescued.

There are a large number of vehicles in the costal districts including Mangalore city esp in areas like Kudroli, which move about without number plates , defective number plates, temporary number plates and registration not transferred to the new owners. Police should intensify and catch such vehicles, because if these are used for crime or terrorism it would be difficult to track the culprits

Section 188 of IPC should be strictly implemented in Mangalore,Udupi and whole of Karnataka. Police verification of tenants and paying guests should be very strictly implemented.Owners of property should have proof of identtity etc of the paying guests and tenants. Remember the most wanted terrorist Yasmin Bhatkal had stayed at Attavar for quite some time. Apart from terrorism it will help in tracking criminals and reducing financial frauds. Police and Municipal Corporation Gram Panchayat etc should jointly carry the drive. In north India it is strictly implemented why not in Karnataka?

Now Nirmala sitharaman will order new wesels for Navey by saying previous UPA govt boats are not capable to chase terrorists.

There are International borders in the water also, but it is not fenced like in the surface, many times our fishermen cross the border in search of good catch and get caught by Pakistani, Irani or UAE authorities and landed in their jail ....
26/11/2008 Pakistani terrorists entered Mumbai through Arabian sea with tonnes of Arms & Ammunition, why didn't then defense minister A K Antony's Navy stop them ....
