Mangaluru: Mishap while swimming at Netravati river - one drowns, four rescued

Mangaluru, Jan 8: In a tragic incident, a 13-year-old boy drowned and four others were rescued at Netravati river here at Farangipete on Tuesday, January 8.

The deceased has been identified as Abdul Satthar (13) resident of Ammemar, Farangipete.

It is said that five students went to collect molluscs from the river. They travelled to the other shore by boat to collect them. Tragedy struck when they decided to have a swim in the river.

Locals from the nearby surroundings managed to rescue four students from drowning.

Police arrived to the spot.
