Mangaluru, Jan 8: As per recent reports, the response to Bharat Bandh in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts has been poor.

Private as well as government buses are seen moving on roads. Even auto rickshaws are seen plying. Earlier it was said that auto rickshaws would support the bandh.

Restaurants and shops are open as usual.

In short, the bandh is partially successful as schools and colleges are closed. Hence the movement of people is limited to some extent coupled with fear of untoward incidents.

There is better response for bandh in Kasargod district.

Earlier report

Bharat Bandh - Day begins with  mixed response  in DK, Udupi & Kasargod

Mangaluru, Jan 8: Most of the shops have been closed in city and Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Tuesday, January 8, in response to Bharat Bandh call given by various labour organisations.

Some private buses were seen on the roads in city. But there are few passengers. Private buses are not participating in the bandh. Passengers were seen stranded in bus stands of Udupi and Mangaluru.

No auto rickshaws were seen plying in city except for a few waiting at rickshaw stands.

Police have provided tight security everywhere to avoid untoward incidents.

In neighboring Kasargod district the bandh is almost total with rarely few vehicles seen on roads.

Bandh...the word itself is negative.... Be it any party or organization..bandh is of no use to the common man...yeah govt employees and other salaried people may benefit by one day's rest...but what will a labourer or a rickshaw driver do?

Do bandh or anything but allow poor people to live in peace and find their livlywood.

One thing I have noticed in the pictures that, Our Mangaluru city is going to be a SMART (?) CITY but see the A to Z building colours it never seen white wash or decent paint may be in decades!!

Why corporation or MCC cannot put guidelines to these building owners to paint the building atleast once in a five years??? why the electric poles and wires hanging and posing danger to human and animal life??

In what and which way we are going to be so called smart city??? is it the only change in names???

I really dont understand what is what and why there is an controlling authority.........

These lefitst rogues are hell bent on distubing public life. Central govt has more or less maintined prices of commodities, but what about their own currput congi JD govt in Karnataka?

in Karntaka, Kumarsmawy has done -
    18%hike of bus fare
    9.5%hike of current bil
    13%hike of road tax
16%hike of driving license tax bil
    14%hike of home revenue tax
    16% hike of land revenue
13.5% hike of sub register value
    1.83 rs of petrol hike
    1.86 rs of diesel hike

but the shameless slaves dont want to understand the facts.. they are busy hatting modi so they wll support this bundh..

When BJP at the centre increased the price of Petrol and Diesel when crude was Usd 40/- Rajesh Udipi had gone blind and Dumb. Now suddenly had woken up from deep sleep. Farmers loan has to be waived and hence tax on Petrol and Diesel has increased. So full support for the state Govt.

Hi Rehna, The farmer's loan waiver is a good cause and like you , even I do support it. But the question is, did our CM announce regarding the fuel price hike to manage loan waiver before the polls! Without sufficient funds to waive loan, how can one assure so confidently! To gain votes!? #justanopinion

Mr. Mangalore (Mr. Anonymous), Speak out the fact man! Loan waiver is temporary solution.

Guess what!! What if the Govt. waives off the loan of each farmer and the farmers take loan again for the agriculture purpose and repeat the same after 5-6 years demanding the Govt. to waive off the loan!! So think about that...

Don't just blabber what others say without knowing the details in brief atleast.

Today, Tomato a kg cost Rs.55. Do the farmers get the benefit? Nope!!! The middlemen is the one who is being benefitted.. So govt. should get the rules that the price hike on any commodity should benefit the farmers too...! #Myopinion

Communist Bandh is peaceful but what about Bands sponsored by Sanghi rogues?

Who raised fuel price in central continuously in centre has no moral value to talk about fuel price hike.

No one is hating Modi. People are asking him why you have not fulfilled your poll promises? He is PM and he should answer for it. And people can unseat him in 2019. that's it. No hate or love in this.

You work you get reward if you fake you will be kicked out . that's democracy.
