Bellary: 'Nadoja' Awards Announced

Bellary, Dec 25: Hampi Kannada University will be conferring the prestigious 'Nadoja' awards on well known writer Dr U R Anantmurty, scholar Prof L Basavaraj, veteran ‘Togalubombe’ puppet artiste Yadramanahalli Doddabharamappa, renowned litterateur Prof Kamala Hampana and scholar Dr Srinivas Havanoor.

These distinguished personalities will be felicitated with the awards at the17th convocation of the University to be held on December 29. University chancellor and state governor Rameshwar Thakur will confer the 'Nodoja' awards on the selected persons, informed University vice-chancellor Dr A Murigeppa, speaking at a press conference held in Hampi on Wedesday December 24.

The University has been following the practice of honouring dignitaries who have made meritorious contributions to Kannada language, literature, culture of the state and social service sector every year, by giving these awards, he explained.

The University will be awarding the DLitt degrees to four eligible persons during this year. These degrees will also be handed over by the chancellor.  Higher education minister Arvind Limbavali will be handing over the PhD and MPhil degrees to the concerned, he said.

Well known writer Prof Baragur Ramachandrappa will be the chief guest of the convocation and will deliver the key note address, Murigeppa explained.
